As the financial services of microfinance usually involve small amounts of money – small loans, small savings etc. – the term “microfinance” helps to differentiate these services from those which formal banks provide.
Why are they small? Someone who doesn’t have a lot of money isn’t likely to want to take out a $5,000 loan, or be able to open a savings account with an opening balance of $1,000. Hence – “micro”.
I’ve always been a fan of Battlestar Gallactica from the very beginning. It’ll definitely go down in history as one of the best Sci-Fi shows in TV history. But the 3rd season of BG didn’t have the same drive and edge of the first two seasons.

My sister and I saw Chris Rock at the Paramount Theatre on April 6th. It was truly an hysterically funny experience. I’ve never seen Chris Rock perform live. It was well worth the price of admission. Chris’s take on sex, politics and current events was spot on.
